Although Claudia and James call Brisbane home, there was never much doubt about where they’d say “I do”. With Claudia born in New Zealand, the couple chose Wanaka as a meaningful place to gather their favourite people and celebrate surrounded by mountains, lakes and stunning scenery.
The couple also chose to do a first look before the ceremony, making the most of the beautiful lakeside setting for portraits among the wildflowers. Not only did it create a special moment together before the celebrations began, but it also helped the day flow seamlessly, allowing more time to relax and enjoy cocktails with guests after the ceremony.
Their wedding at The Lookout Lodge was a masterclass in fresh, thoughtful styling. Yellow details flowed throughout the day, from the stationery, jewellery and florals to citrus fruit woven into the bar styling. Even the wild yellow flowers growing naturally by the lakeside ceremony location felt perfectly on theme.
The couple also embraced their Kiwi-Aussie connection with a few playful touches. Guests enjoyed a lolly bar stocked with classic New Zealand sweets, while dessert came in the form of a pavlova – a cheeky nod to the long-running trans-Tasman debate.
From Claudia’s beautiful Oscar de la Renta gown to the relaxed atmosphere and breathtaking Wanaka backdrop, every detail felt effortlessly stylish and deeply personal.
