Sheri & Angus

Sheri & Angus — A Queenstown Love Story, 16 Years in the Making

If you’re dreaming of a Queenstown wedding that blends timeless style with seriously good energy, Sheri and Angus’ day at Ayrburn is all the inspiration you need. With guests travelling from Australia, a sleek black and white aesthetic, oysters flowing, and a dance floor that didn’t stop, this real wedding is the perfect example of how to turn your celebration into an unforgettable experience.

Some love stories feel like they were always meant to happen — and Sheri and Angus’ is exactly that.

From school days to soulmates, their journey has spanned 16 years, starting with a chance moment that feels straight out of a movie. The two had known of each other growing up, attending partner schools, but their first real memory together dates back to World Youth Day 2008.

Sheri laughs recalling that night — Angus was actually there with another girl, and she remembers thinking, “That’s what I want!” (lol).

Not long after, fate stepped in.

At a Year 10 formal, students were asked to form two circles – girls on the inside, boys on the outside – walking in opposite directions until the music stopped. When it did, Sheri looked up… and there was Angus. Her dance partner.

The following year, their schools merged, classes mixed, and before long, they were together. And they’ve been together ever since.

With all of their guests travelling over from Australia, choosing Queenstown for their wedding felt incredibly special.

It’s a place that holds meaning for them both and it set the perfect backdrop for bringing all their favourite people together in one unforgettable location.

Their venue, Ayrburn, delivered exactly that. A setting that felt both elevated and relaxed, allowing the day to unfold naturally with plenty of heartfelt moments along the way.

At the centre of it all was what mattered most – finally getting to marry their best friend.

Simple. Elegant. Effortless.

Sheri and Angus chose a timeless black and white aesthetic, letting the energy of the day take the lead.

And energy it had.

From oysters flowing to a packed dance floor, this was one of those weddings where the vibe builds all day and then absolutely goes off once the party kicks in. The kind of celebration where no one wants to leave and every moment feels fun, relaxed, and full of life.
